Moloko
I will be spinning 45's at the Moloko on Mississippi. Friday after Thanksgiving. I am so excited. I will be playing an eclectic mix of soul, psych, garage, funk, hip-hop, 80's and dance. It will be fun. Moloko is about a block and a half down from the Laughing Planet on Mississippi. It is my favorite bar in Portland. It has a "white" Clockwork Orange theme and has great infused alcohols.

1928 Peace Dollar - Philadelphia
Today I sold a 1928 Peace Dollar for $250. I was holding out for $300, but quickly realized that it was an unattainable amount. I can be such a greedy little haggler. Anyways though, it rules because I can now buy my new frames and lenses. They are vintage 60's and cost me about $250. SO I will always remember how god smiled on me one day and told me to buy that Peace Dollar at that garage sale for about $2 bucks. JOY! I have a pic of me in the glasses, sans lenses. I will have them in a few days. I think they will help me succeed in life. FInd a new job. Leave Laughing Planet and Buckman Elementary behind me, and in the past. Man...WILL that FEEL GOOD!!!
KRAFTWERK
Easily their strangest yet most catchy, but "What the Fuck!" song. Pocket Calculator. This is close to the first video I ever saw of this, but this is all German. Anyways......what can you say. Completely ridiculous! Great dancing. BIZARRE-O! I was in love instantly and tracked down many of their vinyl records when I was in high school. Beck showed this on 120 Minutes.
This is RAdio Clash
Cultural Phenomenon!!!!
So much going on here. The Clash plus Hip Hop!
This is also how I saved the Laughing Planet Halloween Party. Glad I picked this up on 45 in England after all.....
New Order: Confusion
I remember how weird it was seeing this video for the first time. Skrawny British dudes singing, with awesome early House/Kraftwerk/Afrikka Baambata Beats. It just didn't make sense. But...New Order sure does.

How It Was
What an awesome scene. I feel lame for just beginning to hear this British Soul music. I'd always heard about how huge soul was with the Mod scene, pre punk days, but apparently it was awesome. As usual America knows pretty much nothing about the youth culture movements of England.
Moloko - Northern Soul Dancing Tribute
Some artist named Moloko that I really want to check out and her tribute to Northern Soul.

Basically,
Leave it to me to save any party. I am definitely the real deal here people. I brought the Laughing Planet party back from the dead. Literally. That's two successful gigs in three days. I am definitely LEGIT.

Life....
Well...its November 2nd. I successfully helped DJ a really awesome Halloween party. I also pulled off a pretty great but totally insane costume. True Norwegian Black Metal Elvis or El Dia de las Elvis. Hopefully some decent photos on the way of that. But lately, I've been just completely over whelmed by life, in general. SO many ups and downs, highs and lows. I am going to attempt to not drink for November, which is sure to help. I'm also going to try my very best not to swear. Its so weird working in a kitchen and as an after school Elementary teacher. Somehow I can manage it, as well as being a student. I definitely understand how people don't understand. I act so crazy and different at Laughing Planet then I do at Buckman. Obviously. If I could somehow look at me from a perspective other than being myself, I would probably wonder too. Regardless, although its been difficult, I feel that I am finally getting some respect for the hard work I've been doing at Buckman, especially my Math class. It has been somewhat difficult having to prove myself to the new Sun Program Coordinator. I just really feel like my career is beginning and I know what I need to do to make it happen. I just need to stay focused and forget about all the little annoyances in life. Also, although I hopefully will find another woman to love with all my heart and soul, I need to relax somewhat and not get so hung up on specific girls. Love happens when you least expect it. I guess its just been a long time and I'm starting to feel really pathetic. But, that's when if it does happen, it will be awesome and special again. Until then I should try to have fun and be more open to dating. And also, quite acting so ridiculous all the time. I don't know where I get off being so nuts all the time. My life. Like the game said, you ain't grinding unless you tired......
